Refugees EmpowHERed wants to spread our message of hope and compassion for the women we serve. We believe that our services are the kick start to a brighter future, and that collective action can greatly impact the lives of many. How can we serve this community without knowing their history? Here are some of the stories of brave women and their experiences.

Khepri's Story

Writer's picture: SamanthaSamantha

Updated: Dec 4, 2018

We sat down with Khepri and she told us about the moment she stepped foot in America. There were so many emotions: relief, fear, sadness, happiness, all rushing at once. Many families had travelled with her and America was incredibly foreign. Everything came as a culture shock.

"Someday," she said, "I will return back home and see the sun set on my home country again." She held her son in her arms tightly as she says this.
